4 Trends to Learn From Looking Back at Sex in the City

If you need some entertainment, bring those STC seasons out of your closet. My friend and I decided to watch season 4 the other night and were laughing at how outdated it was. Years ago we used to try to imitate Carrie. Now we can see how fashion has changed and what trends of Carries we should keep and which ones to let go.

1. Smoking?
Alright we all know smoking is bad for your health yadda yadda and we know how Carrie smoked religiously in STC. For your clothes, smoking is terrible. I made the mistake of wearing a brand new alice and olivia dress to a smokey bar. UGH. Now it has to be taken to the dry cleaners even though I wore it for 2 hours and its perfectly clean. You don't want to waste your money on dry cleaning because your clothes smell like smoke if you don't have to.

2. Crop Tops?
Not feelin em. I know they are trying to make a come back, but I'm not convinced. Remember when Carrie wore one for her birthday dinner and no one showed up. She changed later and met up with the girls at the coffee shop and looked much better. Let's not bring the midriff top back even if you have the stomach to show it off.

3. Confidence?
Carrie always wore outrageous clothes. To me she always looked overdressed. She would go to dinner in fancy, poofy dresses but she had the confidence to pull it off. Therefore, she looked great in everything she wore. You can pull outrageous things off too as long as your confident about it. If you feel good in your outfit people will see that. Dare to be different.

4. Bra Fashion?
White tops with black bras? Low cut shirts where your bra is on show? No Way girls. Will it attract males? Yes, but not the kind you want. Just don't let it show, it's really as simple as that.

Tame Frizzy Ends in Seconds

After you straighten your hair do your ends frizz out and look like you haven't had a hair cut in years?

You can easily smooth out your hair with one product and you don't even have to do anything different from your normal routine. Your frizzy ends will be long gone.

Take a section of your hair before you straighten it and spray on a shine polish like aquage ultra light silicone product (any shine polish spray will do). Then straighten your hair into place and your done.

It's really this easy!

Quick Summer Trend: LYD

LBD step aside for summer the LYD is IN.

LYD as in Little Yellow Dress which is one of the hottest trends for summer. It's being featured by celebrities from Misha Barton to Molly Sims and is in stores everywhere. Glamour Magazine says its the color of the season and ShopBop lists it on its trends page.

The key to a yellow dress is making sure that you pick a shade that complements your skin tone. If you have a warmer complexion go with a more mustard, warmer yellow. Yellow can look fantastic again sunkissed skin, just make sure it doesn't wash you out. Shop these sites for a cute LYD.

Bluefly.com: Nanette Lepore Floral Eyelet Dress
Love this for meeting the parents, a picnic, or a day date.

SaksFifthAvenue
: Twenty8Twelve Monette Mini Dress
Dress it up for a night on the town with black gladiators or dress it down with flats or sandals. This dress is also on sale knocking $144 dollars off the original price (can't complain with that, and its Sienna Miller's clothing line.)

5 Trends from the MTV Movie Awards

There were a multitude of different fashion styles on the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards from Kristen Stewart's converse tennis shoes to Miley Cyrus's cowl neck dress. Some of the celebrities looked FANTASTIC others I wasn't so sure what they were thinking. Here are some of my favorite trends that showed up at the Movie Awards.

Sequined Dresses
I know they are hard to wear, and you need a certain occasion for them. But look at Sienna Miller's pictures from the MTV movie awards. The dress looks great!! It's easy, simple, and the sequins add all you need to an outfit. If your running home after work to go out you could easily slip on a sequined dress add nothing and walk out the door.

White Suit
Malin Ackerman rocked this look at the MTV movie awards. She looks sleek, stylish, and stunning. So why not mix it up a little bit? How often do guys see girls in a sexy suit? Take a risk with a white suit. It has the potential to be gorgeous! You can always take the jacket off to loosen up a bit.

Belt a Simple Dress
Channel your inner Ashley Tisdale with her slim purple dress by Elise Overland and Balenciaga Belt. No worries for this trend you don't even need to go designer. All you need is a simple one color mini dress and a belt. You can go with a couple different options for the belt, either pick one with designs such as studs or go with a plain patent leather. This outfit is also perfect with ether flat sandals or heels, whichever you prefer!!

Beachy Waves
Wavy hair seemed to be the "in" thing at the movie awards. The trick to hair like Sienna Millers of Vanessa Hudgens is wrapping your hair around the barrel of a curling iron. Take a small piece of your hair and wrap it around the barrel of your curling iron in a spiral. This will give you the looser waves that the celebrities are sporting. Don't forget the hairspray!!

Smokey Eyes
Regardless of how you feel about Kristen Stewart and Leighton Meester's outfits their makeup was flawless. This is a look that really can only be perfected with practice. Their are plenty of tips to the trade, but you need to experiment. I'm a big fan of smudging pencil eyeliner on the top and bottom and using a lighter shade on my lid and a darker shade in my crease. Then, I take the shade I used in my crease and create a V on the outside corner of my eye right above my lashes to my crease. Just test out different shades until you find the combination that works for you.

There sure were some interesting fashion statements taking place on the red carpet of the movie awards. I wouldn't advocate wearing converse shoes with a dress, but if you feel comfortable in it go for it. Remember to always create your own unique style! Please let me know what you think about these trends!!!

Ten Tip Tuesday

1. Liquid Bronzer, just on your cheekbones

2. Colored skinny jeans + over sized v-neck tee + long chain necklace = quick, comfortable style

3. Invest in some headbands. They can instantly accessorize your outfit or camouflage a bad hair day

4. Neon colors are in!

5. Maxi Dresses are key to effortless style (You really don't even need to accessorize them)

6. Gladiator sandals are still in fashion.

7. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation (AMAZING!)

8. Bright printed skirt on the bottom and plain tank top on the top

9. A bathing suit your are comfortable in (if you pick one that is just trendy, not comfortable and you are not confident in it-it's a waste)

10. Vera Bradley Lunch Box (cute, and you'll save money by taking your lunch to work)
